Why “Stickerdick”?

It all started as an insult, but became a badge of honor.

Back in 1988, Mark Richardson had started a small Graphic design company, SignTalk Graphix. We were located in Jacksonville in a light industrial business park and located directly behind my shop was an upscale paint and body shop owned by a very “opinionated” young man named Ronnie. He was one of the best painters and body men around, but he and his crew did enjoy an “occasional” cocktail during the workday. I was always leaving my back bay door open because we had a constant flow of customers coming and going, and back then, it was not uncommon that folks would come in through that door to visit my shop. Our “Men’s” washroom was also located in the back of the shop and because it was a “Men’s” room, it had a few Adult magazines in there strictly for the articles. One day, while I was enjoying my morning constantional, I noticed that several of the “periodicals” were missing, I asked my workers if they had them, but they did not. So… since I knew Ronnie’s crew were prone to wander into my shop to “borrow” items from time to time, I went over to his shop and sure enough, there were my magazines. In the midst of recovering my property, Ronnie decided to argue the finer points of my manhood and my artistic abilities, our confrontation became quite loud right there in the parking lot between our shops and he decided to add one last insult to end the confrontation by saying, and I quote: “You are a Dickhead and you think your an artist but really all you do is make stickers…. You know what, you are a “StickerDick”! And thus the Saga began.
